ALL Core OS
ALL Core OS is the operating system that runs on every ALL device. It is central to the platform: it lets many apps share one device safely, efficiently and with direct access to the hardware they need.
Security-first architecture
Each app runs in its own sandbox and cannot access another app's data. The same device may run several services at once, so one app must never be able to compromise the privacy or operation of another.
Apps follow a permission model similar to mobile operating systems: they only get access to the interfaces and resources they actually need.
Full disk encryption
Devices use full disk encryption that protects data even if the node operator physically removes the disk.
The host provides hardware and uptime, but does not gain access to application data. This is what allows developers and users to trust services running on hardware they do not own.
Low overhead
ALL Core OS is designed for efficient operation on mini PC hardware. It does not use Docker, and avoids the overhead of conventional container-based deployments.
Edge devices have tighter resource budgets than data-center machines. Lower overhead means more useful work from the same hardware.
Direct hardware access
Apps can access USB and device interfaces directly, under controlled permissions. This enables use cases with receivers, sensors, radios and other specialized peripherals.
It is one of the main reasons ALL is suited to real-world edge services, not only generic compute tasks.
